Parishioners in this ministry have the privilege of proclaiming the Word of God during Holy Mass. The lector reads the 1st and 2nd readings, the petitions after the Creed, and announcements at the end of Mass. Sometimes the Responsorial Psalm is also read by the lector. One must be a Catholic in good standing and able to receive the sacraments.
Trained altar servers have the privilege of serving the priest at the altar during Holy Mass. This ministry is open to all 4th grade or older children who are members of the parish and have received 1st Communion. Altar server training is held in the fall.
Any parishioner can be involved in this ministry of seating people in church, collecting donations at offertory, and distributing bulletins and children’s bulletins after Mass.
Any person or family can be involved in this hospitable ministry by welcoming people coming to church for Holy Mass, opening the door and giving directions.
Any individual or family can be involved in this ministry of bringing our gifts of bread, wine, petition box and collection to Our Lord at offertory.
The rosary is led by a person or family 20 minutes before all daily and weekend Masses. Any person or family can be involved in this ministry.
The Pilsen church has an established choir that meets on Thursday evenings to practice. Marion and Florence cantors and organists rotate and practice music according to their schedule.
After Sunday morning Mass in Marion, coffee and donuts are served in the Marion Activity Center to parishioners. The donuts are picked up from the grocery store, coffee is made and supplies are set out before Mass. Clean up is conducted afterwards. Any person or family can be involved in this ministry.
